Biography:
Mel Corkum was born in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, in the Atlantic coastal village of Middle South. He is a devoted patron of the arts with a sizeable art collection. Mel has served in many countries during his productive years, both in the military and civilian life, retiring in 1980 and retiring to Dartmouth.
Mel kept active in the arts and crafts world and was a self-taught artist. He started painting at the late age of 87 and continued until his early 90s.For two years he devoted his life to folk art painting using vivid fine art concepts.
